The Karangasem Regency Government requires a budget of around Rp 1.8 trillion to optimise priority programmes in 2027, particularly concerning infrastructure and waste management.

This was revealed during the Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang) for the 2026 RKPD, held at Wantilan Sabha Prakerthi Nadi in Karangasem on Monday (30/3/2026). The Musrenbang was conducted to formulate policy and priority programmes for 2027.

During the Musrenbang, several priority programmes were highlighted, such as waste issues, road infrastructure, suboptimal regional potential development, and high poverty rates. Additionally, clean water problems, the education sector, and healthcare services were also prioritised.

The Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Karangasem, I Gusti Bagus Widiantara, stated that the Musrenbang is a strategic forum bringing together various stakeholders to align development plans for 2027.

“The activity we are carrying out not only discusses priority programmes but also highlights various problems and challenges for the future development of Karangasem Regency,” said Widiantara on Monday (30/3/2026).

The Regent of Karangasem, I Gusti Putu Parwata (Gus Par), stated that the various problems and proposals that have arisen so far must be addressed through thorough and targeted planning, so that the benefits can be felt comprehensively by the people of Karangasem.

“The preparation of the 2027 RKPD must be able to address challenges in the economic, social, environmental, infrastructure, and other sectors,” explained Gus Par.

In the preparation of the 2027 RKPD, there were several proposals from various parties. These proposals include 207 programmes, 479 activities, and 1,462 sub-activities. Consequently, the budget needed to accommodate all of them reaches Rp 1.84 trillion.

“With the current budget limitations we have, planning must be carried out thoroughly and targeted, prioritising scales of priority,” said Gus Par.

Gus Par also emphasised the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in every stage during the Musrenbang. Furthermore, synergy and collaboration between government, society, business, and academia are one of the keys to successful development in each region.

The results of the Musrenbang will later serve as the basis for determining budget allocations for each Regional Device Organisation (OPD), with all funding sourced from the Karangasem Regency APBD.
