Karangasem Prosecutor's Office Receives Lab Results in Alleged Decorative Street Lighting Corruption Case

The suspected corruption case involving the procurement of decorative Public Street Lighting (LPJU) projects, handled by the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari), has now entered the investigation stage. The prosecutor’s office has also received laboratory test results on a number of components in the decorative LPJU project.

Head of the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office, Shinta Ayu Dewi RR, said the suspected LPJU corruption case was escalated to the investigation stage a month ago. The results of the physical examination or laboratory tests have now been received.

“We have received the laboratory test results; the next stage will be the calculation of state losses,” Shinta said on Tuesday (4/8/2026).

Laboratory tests were carried out on the electrical and construction aspects, involving experts from outside Bali. The examination aimed to determine whether the current condition of the construction matches the original construction at the time of installation.

Shinta stressed that the handling of the case would continue to be supervised until its completion or until suspects are named. The prosecutors handling the case have also been asked to remain focused so that the legal process runs through to a verdict.

To date, the investigating team has continued to examine a number of witnesses to complete the body of evidence and deepen the investigation. After that, the process will continue with the calculation of state losses by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

“Hopefully the handling of this case will proceed well and smoothly, so that suspects can be named soon,” Shinta said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Special Crimes Section at the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office, I Gede Hady S, said the investigation into the suspected decorative LPJU corruption case is still ongoing. A number of witnesses have been questioned since the start of the case, and investigators remain open to conducting further examinations if necessary.

“We (the prosecutor’s office) have also engaged external experts to carry out examinations focused on three main components of the project, covering the lamps, panels, batteries, LPJU poles, construction and other ornaments,” Hady said.

With the laboratory tests completed, the next stage of the legal process points towards the calculation of state losses, which will serve as the basis for handling the case. The prosecutor’s office hopes the investigation can proceed smoothly.

In handling the suspected decorative LPJU corruption case in Karangasem, the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office has examined a number of witnesses, ranging from contractors and private parties to government officials.
