Karangasem Prosecutor's Office Receives Lab Results in Alleged Decorative Street Lighting Corruption Case

The alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of a decorative Public Street Lighting project handled by the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office has now entered the investigation phase. The prosecutor’s office has also received the results of laboratory tests on a number of components from the project. Karangasem Chief Prosecutor Shinta Ayu Dewi RR stated that the case moved to the investigation stage a month ago and the physical examination or laboratory results have now been received. “We have received the lab results, and the next stage will be the calculation of state losses,” Shinta said on Tuesday. The laboratory tests were conducted on electrical and construction aspects involving experts from outside Bali. The examination aimed to ascertain whether the current construction condition matches the original installation. Shinta emphasised that the case handling will be supervised until completion, including the naming of suspects. Prosecutors handling the case have been instructed to remain focused so that the legal process proceeds to a verdict. Currently, the investigation team is still examining several witnesses to complete the evidence and deepen the investigation. Following this, the process will continue with the calculation of state losses by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency. “Hopefully, the handling of this case proceeds well and smoothly, so that suspects can be named soon,” Shinta said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Special Crimes Section at the Karangasem Prosecutor’s Office, I Gede Hady S, stated that the investigation is ongoing. Several witnesses have been questioned since the beginning of the case handling, and investigators remain open to conducting additional examinations if necessary. “We are also collaborating with external experts to conduct examinations focused on three main project components, including the lights, panels, batteries, street light poles, construction, and other ornaments,” Hady said. With the completion of the laboratory tests, the subsequent legal process is directed towards calculating state losses, which will form the basis for handling the case. The prosecutor’s office hopes the investigation process proceeds smoothly. In handling the alleged corruption case of the decorative street lighting in Karangasem, the prosecutor’s office has examined a number of witnesses, ranging from contractors and private parties to government officials.
