Karangasem PMI Launches ALIR Application: What are its benefits?
The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Karangasem has launched the Blood Service Information Access application, known as ALIR. The application, launched on the organisation’s 81st anniversary, is designed to simplify services and information delivery to the public.
“This application can be accessed by the entire community to facilitate access to important information regarding blood stocks and other related matters,” said the Chairman of PMI Karangasem, I Gusti Ngurah Setiawan (Gus Sombi), on Sunday (20/09/2026).
In addition to providing transparency through visible blood stocks, the donor database is now clearly recorded. The application stores donor names, blood types, and mobile numbers. In the event of a shortage or when a specific blood type is required, those in need can directly contact donors with the matching blood group.
The ALIR application also includes a schedule of blood donation activities, complete with locations and times. This allows members of the public who wish to donate blood to visit the nearest location according to the available schedule.
“Since the beginning of my term, I have wanted to develop an application to make things easier for the public, and it has finally been realised this year,” said Setlag.
Alongside the application launch, PMI Karangasem organised several activities to celebrate its 81st anniversary, including beach clean-ups, a quiz competition for junior high school students, and video and poster competitions related to humanitarian efforts.
“In this year’s PMI anniversary celebration, we are also presenting awards to communities or parties that have consistently conducted regular blood donation activities,” added Setiawan.
Members of the public who have donated blood five or more times received awards as a form of appreciation for their contribution to helping others, particularly those in emergency situations requiring blood transfusions.
“There have been many activities conducted. Today includes blood donations, doorprize draws, and much more,” said Setiawan.
Looking ahead, PMI Karangasem intends to continue various activities, ranging from blood donations to first aid efforts and assisting the community with needs such as clean water.
The team also stated they will engage more regularly with the community through socialisation programmes to raise awareness about the benefits of blood donation. The goal is to ensure high participation in every blood donation event to maintain stable blood stocks.
“We will also manage the blood donation schedule to ensure we do not run out of stock or end up with an excess, as blood products have a limited shelf life,” explained Setiawan.
