Karangasem Man Stabs Neighbour Repeatedly After Taking Offence

A man identified by the initials INW, also known as Mangku, 50, allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Ni Ketut S, 52, in Jasri Kaler, Subagan, Karangasem, on Wednesday night (28 October 2026). At the time, Mangku had been drinking tuak, a traditional palm wine.

Mangku allegedly stabbed the woman repeatedly because he took offence at what she said. S suffered wounds to several parts of her body and had to receive intensive treatment at Balimed Hospital in Karangasem.

“The suspect has been detained for further investigation. The case is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Karangasem Police,” Karangasem Police public relations officer Ipda I Nengah Artono said on Thursday (29 October 2026).

Information obtained by detikBali indicates that the incident took place at around 7pm local time on Wednesday, on Ahmad Yani Street, Tanah Gebuh Lane, in Jasri Kaler. It began when Mangku drank tuak with a friend at his home, east of S’s house.

A few minutes later, Mangku suddenly approached S and they spoke briefly. His friend did not know exactly what they discussed. Mangku then returned home.

As he was walking home, S allegedly said something that Mangku considered insulting. A few minutes later, Mangku approached her again carrying a knife and stabbed her repeatedly.

Several residents and Mangku’s friend intervened and restrained him. S was taken to Balimed Hospital in Karangasem for intensive medical treatment.

An initial examination found wounds measuring about 20 centimetres on S’s right thigh, 5 centimetres on her left thigh and 10 centimetres on her right hand. She also had a wound about 5 centimetres long and approximately 5 centimetres deep on the left side of her chest.

“The victim is still receiving intensive treatment in hospital,” Artono said.
