Karangasem Government Terminates Two PPPK, Nine Resign
The Karangasem Regency Government has extended the contracts of thousands of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) for the next five years. However, the working terms of 11 PPPK were not renewed for various reasons.
Two PPPK were dismissed due to serious violations, one for involvement in a narcotics case and another for never attending work without clear justification. Meanwhile, nine others resigned, citing health reasons or having secured more suitable employment elsewhere.
“Yes, there are two PPPK whose contracts we did not extend, one due to involvement in a drug case and the other for never coming to work,” stated Karangasem Regent I Gusti Putu Parwata on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
Gus Par, as the regent is familiarly known, explained that for the PPPK who never attended work, the Karangasem Regency Government had already shown considerable tolerance by attempting to contact the individual for an explanation. However, after receiving no response, three warning letters were issued. When these were also ignored, the decision was made to dismiss the employee.
According to Gus Par, this decision was taken to serve as a warning to all PPPK to prioritise discipline in their work in order to provide the best service to the community. He noted that the government has made efforts to extend PPPK contracts for a five-year period.
“We must be firm. Any employee who is undisciplined, lazy, or commits serious violations will face sanctions,” Gus Par asserted.
Previously, the Karangasem Regency Government extended the working periods of 2,442 PPPK for five years. The thousands of PPPK within the Karangasem Regency Government comprise 271 teaching staff, 126 healthcare workers, and 2,045 technical personnel.
Gus Par personally handed over the decree letters (SK) for the contract extensions to the thousands of PPPK at the Karangasem Public Service Mall (MPP) on Wednesday. Gus Par reminded the PPPK not to pawn their decree letters for online gambling.
