Karangasem DPRD Special Committee Urges BPKAD to Optimise Regional Revenue Potential
The Special Committee (Pansus) on Revenue and Financial Management of the Karangasem DPRD is urging the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Karangasem to optimise the potential of Regional Original Revenue (PAD). The council assesses the need for concrete steps to ensure that PAD for 2026 reaches the target of Rp 511 billion. “We are not only conducting oversight, but also getting involved and taking responsibility so that revenue can be optimised further,” said the Chairman of the Pansus on Revenue and Financial Management of the DPRD, I Nengah Sumardi, during a visit to the Karangasem BPKAD on Tuesday (14/4/2026). Sumardi assessed that there are still many alternative revenue sources that have not been maximally exploited. He also asked the Karangasem BPKAD to continue exploring the potential for new taxes to increase Karangasem’s PAD. To date, the highest contributing sector to Karangasem’s PAD has been the tax on non-metallic minerals and rocks (MBLB). There is also the tax on certain goods and services (BJT), which includes hotel, restaurant, and entertainment taxes. The Head of the Karangasem BPKAD, I Nyoman Siki Ngurah, stated that the realisation of Karangasem’s PAD to date has reached Rp 133.7 billion, or around 26.1 percent of the total 2026 PAD target. He mentioned that efforts have already been made to optimise several tax sectors and add new taxpayers. “To date, there are around 649 new taxpayers, of which 266 are from the hospitality sector. This is the sector that we will optimise further in the future,” said Siki Ngurah.
