Karang Anyar KKMP keeps staple food prices within HET limits
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Karang Anyar Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KKMP), in Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, is seeking to ensure residents can access essential goods at prices in line with the highest retail price (HET), despite facing limited supplies and business capital.
“The HET should be accessible to all sections of the community, both members and non-members. The key is to guarantee weekly supplies of HET-priced and subsidised goods in quantities that reflect the population of each urban village,” KKMP Karang Anyar Chair Siswanto said when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The cooperative, which began operating on 1 October 2025, serves both members and the general public, offering essentials including Minyakita cooking oil, three-kilogram LPG cylinders, rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) programme, sugar, flour and coffee.
Siswanto said Minyakita is sold for Rp15,700 per litre, three-kilogram LPG cylinders for Rp16,000 each, and SPHP rice for Rp60,000 per five-kilogram pack.
He said these prices are lower than those charged by some nearby traders. Minyakita, for example, can cost Rp20,000–Rp22,000 per litre on the market, while three-kilogram LPG cylinders sell for Rp20,000–Rp25,000 each.
Since starting operations, KKMP Karang Anyar has gathered around 300 members. Its turnover from October 2025 to September 2026 reached approximately Rp750 million, with monthly sales varying according to supply availability.
The cooperative still relies on members’ initial and regular contributions, as well as additional member capital, to fund its business.
In its operations, KKMP has also received support from the Karang Anyar urban village head, who has lent it a vehicle and provided staff to help transport goods, enabling the management to save on transport costs.
Siswanto hopes supplies of essential goods can be maintained regularly so the cooperative can continue providing products at HET prices to members and nearby residents.
“This is entirely a community effort, so we hope we can receive support,” he said.
