Kapuspen: TNI Does Not Tolerate Soldiers Who Violate the Law
Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that the TNI does not tolerate actions by soldiers that violate the law and military discipline. According to him, every soldier who breaks the law will be dealt with firmly in accordance with regulations.
“Whether through military courts, imposition of disciplinary punishments such as detention and dismissal from position, or dishonourable discharge from military service,” he said during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in East Jakarta on Wednesday, 25 March 2026.
He claimed that strict sanctions against military personnel who violate the law have been consistently applied throughout this year. Aulia detailed the types of violations committed by soldiers of various ranks, which are diverse.
“From abuse of authority, including involvement in illegal activities, and other criminal acts including assault,” said the two-star general.
In addition, he said the national defence institution is carrying out human resource improvements. Aulia stated that these improvements are achieved through strengthening internal supervision, enhancing leadership quality at every command level, and instilling values of discipline and integrity in all soldiers.
“This commitment also reaffirms the TNI’s support for the president’s policies in strengthening the supremacy of law and ensuring every soldier becomes a role model,” he said.
Recently, the TNI has been implicated in the attempted murder case against human rights activist Andrie Yunus. The Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence was doused with acid after giving a speech discussing the revision of the TNI Law.
In the press conference, the TNI stated that it has detained four suspected perpetrators who are active soldiers. All four are from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency or BAIS.
Kapuspen Aulia said the investigation process into the attack on Andrie Yunus is still being handled by the TNI Military Police Centre. He also mentioned that a change in the position of the BAIS TNI Chief has occurred as a result of the attack incident.
“As a form of accountability, today the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out,” said Aulia.
He did not provide further details regarding this change in the BAIS Chief, including the high-ranking officer who will replace him. The BAIS TNI Chief in office at the time of the acid dousing incident was Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo.
Yudi Abrimantyo has served as BAIS TNI Chief since March 2024. He is a graduate of the 1989 Military Academy class and is affiliated with the infantry of the Special Forces Command or Kopassus.
