Kapuk Muara North Jakarta Flooded 35cm, Several Motorcycles Stalled
JAKARTA – Multiple locations on Kapuk Muara Road, Penjaringan, North Jakarta remained flooded until Monday 9 March 2026 morning.
An observation by Kompas.com at the location at 09:40 WIB showed that flooded areas were still evident after passing through Kapuk Pump Station 3 on the road.
Murky water submerged the road between 10 and 35 centimetres. Several plastic waste items were floating at the flooded sites.
Some motorists chose to turn their vehicles towards Teluk Gong Road, concerned that their motorcycles would not be able to traverse the floodwaters.
A number of residents were seen walking on foot with their trousers rolled up above their knees.
Several officers from the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management Unit (PPSU) were present at the location.
Aman (40), a motorcyclist whose vehicle stalled, did not anticipate that the area would still be flooded on Monday morning.
“I tried to avoid the congestion at Muara Karang but ended up trapped here,” he told Kompas.com at the location on Monday.
Meanwhile, Aldi (50), a local resident, stated that flooding at Kapuk Muara occurred following the heavy rain that struck Jakarta on Saturday 7 March 2026 evening.
According to him, the Kapuk Muara location is a habitual flooding site, so residents have become accustomed to the condition.
“It always floods whenever it rains. This area is not unfamiliar with it – even tidal flooding rises,” he added.
