Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Aceh Regional Command for the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster, Safrizal Zakaria Ali, has appreciated the solidarity demonstrated by various regions in supporting the recovery of disaster-affected areas in Aceh.

“To help Aceh, we very much need solidarity from many parties, and North Sumatra’s financial support for several areas in Aceh is a manifestation of that solidarity,” Safrizal said in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He conveyed this while directly accompanying the working visit of the PRR Task Force Chair, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tito Karnavian, to the city of Banda Aceh.

During the series of working visits, Safrizal escorted every agenda of the PRR Task Force Chair, from strengthening urban planning visions in regional forums, the distribution of inter-regional grants, to concrete actions in handing over public facility aid to the people of Aceh.

In the Working Meeting of Regional Commissariat I (Komwil I) of APEKSI, held in Banda Aceh, Tito Karnavian provided guidance on the direction of urban development.

“A good city is one that is built with design, not one that grows haphazardly. Growth and city development are regulated systematically on top of that design. This design must be well regulated, not done carelessly,” Tito said in front of mayors across Sumatra.

In the same forum, an important moment was created with the handover of financial aid (grants) from local governments in North Sumatra for handling disaster impacts in Aceh. The total aid facilitated amounted to Rp260 billion, sourced from eight districts/cities in North Sumatra for eight affected areas in Aceh.

After the APEKSI event, Safrizal also accompanied the Task Force Deputy Chair to the Grand Mosque of Baiturrahman. In the courtyard of this historic mosque, they carried out the ceremony of handing over aid in the form of one Toyota Hiace operational vehicle to the mosque’s management.

This aid represents a tangible manifestation of the PRR Task Force’s attention to public facilities that hold high historical value and serve as a centre of religious activities for the community in the Verandah of Mecca.

Tito hopes that this operational support will further facilitate the management of the mosque in serving worshippers and regional guests. The series of working visits was concluded with the departure of the PRR Task Force Chair to central Aceh areas.
