Political analyst Boni Hargens has assessed the move by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to meet with Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto as that of a true statesman. According to him, the Police Chief’s actions in both visits send a strong signal that the National Police are attempting to rebuild communication bridges between institutions at a time when institutional relations are being tested by complex legal dynamics. He stated that the background of the visits cannot be separated from the ongoing controversy, namely the alleged criminal act of money laundering which has, in its development, implicated the name of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. “In conditions where inter-institutional relations are under public scrutiny, the Police Chief’s statement carries significant political weight while also serving as an effort to balance the narrative in the public sphere,” Boni said in a written statement on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. Furthermore, Boni assessed the Police Chief’s move as an effective strategy to quell public speculation about inter-institutional clashes arising amidst the investigation of a corruption case involving a former senior official of the Attorney General’s Office. “Prioritising national stability above sectoral interests is the core of the Police Chief’s political gesture, for which the public should give extraordinary appreciation,” Boni continued. He also added that the Police Chief and all Bhayangkara personnel are committed to maintaining the integrity of the legal ecosystem and comprehensive national security.
