Kapolri and Attorney General Affirm Strong Institutional Bond, Plan Educational Exchange
National Police Chief (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has explained that his visit to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) was aimed at strengthening ties. General Sigit emphasised that the National Police (Polri) and the Attorney General’s Office are one entity within the criminal justice system (CJS).
General Sigit explained that during the visit, he and the Attorney General’s Office discussed several matters, particularly relating to strengthening the criminal justice system. On that occasion, the Kapolri was received by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and members of the Adhyaksa Corps.
“Alhamdulillah, today we were honoured to be received for a friendly visit and audience regarding several matters we discussed, concerning how the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police, as one unit of law enforcement officers within the criminal justice system, will move forward,” General Sigit stated at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta, Monday (13/7/2026).
The Kapolri affirmed that Polri and the Attorney General’s Office are synergising to strengthen law enforcement. The issuance of the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) is one factor strengthening the synergy between the two law enforcement agencies.
“We will continue to strengthen and solidify this, especially with the new KUHAP, which we will also socialise together,” he said.
The Kapolri added that in order to strengthen the justice system, Polri and the Attorney General’s Office plan to create an educational exchange partnership programme between prosecutors and police investigators in the future.
“And going forward, the existing partnership and synergy will continue to be strengthened and improved. We have a plan to enhance the partnership programme through an exchange of education between prosecutors and investigators,” he added.
Meanwhile, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin stated that the visit from General Sigit and the Polri leadership was nothing new. He said there is no rivalry between the two law enforcement institutions.
“This is not a new programme; it is an old programme. Furthermore, I, along with the Kapolri, want our colleagues not to think of us as rivals or versus each other. No. I have known him personally for a long time. We are in this together, I as Attorney General and he as Kapolri,” said ST Burhanuddin.
He stated that the friendly gathering was a routine matter. He said the meeting was not due to any particular issues.
“Do not think this is because of something that happened previously. This is a routine friendly visit that we conduct. We are always thinking about how to improve going forward,” he said.
