Kanu joins Nigeria for WCup qualifiers
LAGOS (AFP): Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu said Monday he will be available for Nigeria's World Cup qualifying games next year as a row rumbled on over his refusal to play in the Sydney Olympics.
"I'm a Nigerian. I am proud to be a Nigerian and I will remain a Nigerian till I die. Anytime I'm invited to play for the national team, I will be ready," Kanu told a local radio station.
Top Nigerian sports officials have since called for the player to be dropped from the Super Eagles as punishment for his refusal to join the side at the Sydney Olympics.
