JAKARTA - One day before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, or Friday (20/3/2026), the atmosphere at Kampung Rambutan Terminal in East Jakarta appeared more relaxed compared to previous days. This was evident from the waiting areas that were not overly crowded, as well as several buses still awaiting passengers before departure. Despite approaching Eid, prospective mudik travellers could still obtain tickets relatively easily. This phenomenon indicates a shift in the mudik flow that is becoming more evenly distributed and no longer piling up at one time. Several mudik travellers were seen casually waiting for departure, with some even still seeking tickets for same-day travel. Adi (32), a mudik traveller from Bandar Lampung, admitted to buying his ticket on Friday morning for an afternoon departure. “Tickets weren’t hard to get. I arrived at 10:00 WIB from Bogor earlier, tickets were still available, so I bought them right away to go home,” said Adi at Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Friday (20/3/2026). “If I go home today, firstly to avoid the buildup and secondly because I just got leave, so this timing is perfect as it’s not too crowded,” he added. Indra, a mudik traveller heading to Pangandaran, expressed a similar sentiment, deliberately departing close to Eid for a smoother journey. “I’ve had leave since yesterday, but I intentionally returned one day before Eid to keep it quiet,” he said. Nevertheless, Indra revealed that ticket prices had still increased. From the usual around Rp150,000, it now costs Rp220,000. “I’ll be in the village for a week, and on the way back, I’ll avoid the traffic jams too, making it a bit longer stay,” he explained.
