Jakarta (ANTARA) - The atmosphere at Kampung Rambutan Terminal in Jakarta during the mudik exodus was observed to be relatively quiet on the day before Eid al-Fitr 2026, Friday, indicating a significant decline following the peak mudik flow that occurred a few days earlier.

The Head of Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Revi Zulkarnain, explained that this downward trend had been evident since the day before that, Thursday (19/3).

“Indeed, there has been a decline today. It is likely to continue decreasing, and currently, it is dominated by mudik travellers with short-distance destinations, such as West Java, Banten, Central Java, Lampung,” he said.

Based on ANTARA’s observations from around 9:00 AM WIB to 11:00 AM WIB, the terminal atmosphere remained quiet with few mudik passengers.

Revi revealed that the number of departing passengers from 00:00 AM WIB to 09:00 AM WIB was recorded at 325 people.

On Thursday (19/3), the number of passengers dropped to 3,464 from the peak of 5,336 passengers on Wednesday (18/3).

Revi stated that on this eve of Eid, the majority of passengers are travelling to areas in West Java, Banten, Central Java, and up to Lampung.

Some popular destinations that are still busy include Tasikmalaya, Garut, Cianjur, Tegal, Pekalongan, Purwokerto, Wonosobo, as well as the Merak and Pandeglang regions.

Meanwhile, the peak mudik flow occurred on the third day before Eid, with favourite destinations including major cities such as Surabaya, Malang, up to Palembang and Padang.

The mudik service post is still operational and will continue until 29 March 2026. He also assured that no passengers are stranded or short of tickets.

“All passengers can be accommodated. Regular buses are still sufficiently available,” he said.

Previously, the terminal had prepared three support buses for popular routes such as Yogyakarta, Cilacap, and Malang, but no additional fleet has been added yet.

For operations, the terminal continues to serve departures according to each route’s schedule. Inter-city inter-provincial buses remain operational 24 hours, including on Eid day itself.
