Kampung Kramat Bridge Repaired Temporarily After Collapse, Small Vehicles Can Now Pass
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The East Jakarta Public Works Sub-department has carried out temporary repairs on the Kampung Kramat bridge in Setu sub-district, Cipayung district, which had partially collapsed.
The Head of the East Jakarta Public Works Sub-department, Benhard Hutajulu, explained that the repairs were carried out on the collapsed section of the bridge’s edge to allow residents to cross again.
This is because the bridge is an access route connecting East Jakarta and Bekasi City, West Java.
He emphasised that the repairs are temporary while awaiting the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Authority (BBWSCC) to repair the Kali Sunter embankment under the bridge.
“For the repair process, 12 personnel from the ‘Yellow Troops’ have been deployed. This step is expected to improve the safety and comfort of road users,” said Benhard.
Meanwhile, the Head of Setu sub-district, Dwi Widiastuti, said that access for four-wheeled vehicles, which had previously been closed, has now been reopened.
However, large-tonnage vehicles are still prohibited from crossing and are being diverted via Jalan PLN and Jalan Sumir.
“Large vehicles are not allowed to pass, but motorcycles and small cars are allowed,” said Dwi.
Previously, the collapse of the bridge in Kampung Kramat, Setu sub-district, Cipayung district, East Jakarta, caused traffic flow for four-wheeled vehicles to be diverted.
“To avoid further damage, we closed the road, especially for large vehicles and trucks, which could not pass this bridge. While waiting for the repair process,” said Dwi.
Motorcycles are still allowed to pass in turns, while cars and trucks are directed to use alternative routes.
“There are two alternative routes, namely Jalan PLN, which passes behind the TNI Headquarters, and Jalan Sumir. But, in fact, residents prefer to use this road because it is more strategic and provides faster access to the Bekasi area,” she said.
The damage is suspected to have occurred due to the age of the structure and cavities under the bridge structure being eroded by water.
Dwi Widiastuti revealed that the damage had occurred gradually over the past two weeks.
