Kampar Police Secure Traditional Balimau Kasai Ceremony Ahead of Ramadan
The Balimau Kasai ceremony has once again been held to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah (2026). The Kampar Police secured the traditional ceremony, which is routinely staged to mark the arrival of the holy month.
Kampar Police Chief AKBP Boby Putra Ramadhan Sebayang stated that the Kampar Police are committed to providing a sense of safety and comfort to the public throughout the Balimau Kasai event. The force also conducted a roll call for the maintenance of public security and order during the month of Ramadan.
“We urge all personnel to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities, prioritising a humanistic attitude when interacting with the public, and to remain on standby for any eventuality,” said AKBP Boby on Wednesday (18 February 2026).
He also called on the entire community to work together in maintaining security and order during the Balimau Kasai event, so that the activities may proceed smoothly, solemnly and safely in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan.
Boby added that this occasion serves as a reminder that preserving culture must go hand in hand with protecting the environment. Both are sources of life and identity that will be bequeathed to future generations.
“Through the spirit of Green Policing, we invite the entire community to continue nurturing culture, protecting nature, and strengthening collective welfare. This is a tangible form of our commitment: Protecting Heritage, Safeguarding Dignity,” he said.
Furthermore, he noted that the Balimau Kasai event is also being utilised to strengthen community ties ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. The familial atmosphere created in Kampar demonstrates that the relationship between the authorities and the people is the primary foundation for creating conducive security in the region.
He also reminded parents to always supervise their children if they play in the Kampar River during the Balimau Kasai event, stressing that children’s safety must be the top priority.
The Kampar Police Chief urged residents to make use of the 110 emergency service, which is accessible free of charge around the clock.
“The public should not hesitate to contact the 110 service if they witness or become aware of any incidents during the Balimau Kasai tourism event,” he said.
The security roll call for the Balimau Kasai event in Kampar Regency at Kampar Police headquarters was led by Public Order Unit Chief AKP Alfajri, involving 125 Kampar Police personnel, 26 Civil Service Police Unit personnel, 20 Transport Agency personnel, 6 Regional Disaster Management Agency personnel, and 15 Health Agency personnel. Alfajri requested that all personnel carry out their duties with full responsibility and a humanistic approach in securing and managing the Balimau Kasai tourism event.
“Every officer must recognise that this security duty is a mandate that must be executed to the best of one’s ability. A humanistic, courteous and polite attitude when interacting with the public must always be prioritised. Avoid arrogant or repressive actions that could create a negative image of the police,” said Alfajri.
He also asked officers to adopt a persuasive approach in security operations and traffic management. Personnel must provide clear explanations to the public, prioritise road user safety, and avoid actions that could trigger congestion or accidents.
“Personnel must remain vigilant and alert to potential public order disturbances, such as theft, fighting, or other criminal acts. Conduct intensive patrols in vulnerable areas and take firm action against offenders in accordance with prevailing legal procedures,” he added.
He also called on all personnel to maintain solidarity and coordination between functional units, stating that the success of the event’s security operations depends heavily on strong solidarity and good inter-unit coordination.
“If a significant incident occurs or requires special handling, report immediately to the leadership for further direction. Do not act independently without coordinating with the leadership,” he added.
