KAMMI Central Board Affirms Legitimate Leadership Under Ahmad Jundi
Internal turmoil within the Indonesian Muslim Students Action Union (KAMMI) is intensifying. A total of 141 Regional Administrators (PD) of KAMMI from across Indonesia have simultaneously taken a firm stance, rejecting and condemning the unilateral leadership claim made by former cadre, Amri Akbar. The hundreds of regional administrators emphasised that Amri Akbar’s membership status has been officially terminated by the organisation. Therefore, any manoeuvres and statements issued by him are considered illegal actions. “The regional structures affirm that the individual’s membership status has been officially terminated by the organisation, thus any actions and statements he issues are illegal acts that tarnish the legitimate leadership dignity of KAMMI,” wrote representatives of the regional administrators in an official statement received by the media on Thursday (18/6/2026). This collective statement also confirms that the entire KAMMI structure, from Sabang to Merauke, remains solid under one legitimate chain of command. They stated they only recognise the outcomes of the 13th Muktamar (National Congress), which mandated the leadership to the Central Board (PP) Chairman of KAMMI, Ahmad Jundi Khalifatullah. The wave of rejection against Amri Akbar’s manoeuvres was voiced massively by regional chairpersons in various areas. From the Eastern region, KAMMI Ambon Chairman Isrun stated he would not provide any space for efforts attempting to divide the organisation. Isrun asserted that since Amri Akbar has been officially dismissed, all organisational attributes he uses are illegal. A similar sentiment was expressed by KAMMI Palu Chairman Ananda, who deemed the action morally and organisationally flawed. Crossing to the Western region, KAMMI Medan Chairman Rifi strongly condemned the spread of claims he labelled as hoaxes. According to him, the decision to dismiss Amri Akbar is proof of organisational discipline enforcement. Meanwhile, KAMMI Banjarmasin Chairman Taufan confirmed that cadres in Kalimantan remain steadfast and focused on the regeneration agenda. As an administrator in the capital region, KAMMI Central Jakarta Chairman Danang, who directly witnesses the workings of the central board, affirmed that the Central Board under Ahmad Jundi’s leadership remains productive and widely recognised. According to Danang, the movement orchestrated by the dismissed former Secretary-General is purely a rogue movement with no real followers on the ground. Through this joint statement, the 141 KAMMI Regional Administrators across Indonesia strongly urged the mass media, government agencies, and all strategic partners not to serve or facilitate any parties claiming to represent KAMMI outside the official leadership of Ahmad Jundi Khalifatullah.
