Kalla to attend evangelism day

JAYAPURA, Papua: Vice President Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to
attend a ceremony marking the 150th anniversary of Bible
Evangelism Day on Feb. 5 in Jayapura, Papua.

The ceremony will be held in Mandala field, Jayapura, with
over 20,000 people scheduled to attend, said Papua Deputy
Governor Constant Karma.

The anniversary committee has scheduled a number of activities
to mark the occasion, including a religious book exhibition and a
boat rowing competition.

Evangelism Day is celebrated to commemorate the arrival of two
German missionaries, Ottow and Gessler, on Feb. 5, 1855, on
Mansinam Island, Manokwari, Papua. -- JP
