Kalisari Sub-District Head Suspended Following Complaint Handled by AI
The Jakarta Provincial Inspectorate has recommended the suspension of Kalisari Sub-District Head Siti Nur Hasanah to the East Jakarta Administrative Mayor following the controversy over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by her subordinates in following up on citizen reports via JAKI. Jakarta Provincial Inspector Dhany Sukma explained that his office had conducted a thorough examination in accordance with government internal audit standards to uncover facts and determine further steps. “The results of this examination serve as the basis for corrective actions and strengthening oversight, so that the handling of public complaints runs more orderly, accountably, and in accordance with regulations,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (8/4). In addition to the sub-district head, the Inspectorate also recommended disciplinary sanctions and guidance for the Head of the Government Section of Kalisari Sub-District and the Head of the Economy and Development Section of Kalisari Sub-District who were also involved. Meanwhile, three Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Officers (PPSU) who were proven to be involved will be subject to sanctions in accordance with their work contract provisions. Dhany emphasised that these steps are part of the bureaucratic reform efforts being promoted by Governor Pramono Anung. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also committed to strengthening the oversight system and improving accountability in public services. “This is not just about sanctions, but also about comprehensive system improvements so that similar incidents do not recur,” said Dhany. Previously, the public was shocked by a social media post regarding a report of illegal parking through the JAKI application which was stated to have been completed, but accompanied by a photo suspected to be an AI-generated image.
