Kalisari Sub-District Head Officially Removed Following Complaint Response Using AI Edits
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has officially removed the Head of Kalisari Sub-District, Siti Nur Hasanah, and issued SP1 sanctions to three Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Officers (PPSU), following the handling of a citizen complaint on the JAKI app that was responded to using edited photos or Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“As for their superiors, from the Head of the Economic Development Section and the Head of the Government Section, including the Head of Kalisari Sub-District, we have relieved them of their duties,” Pramono said at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4).
Pramono assured that the step is purely for disciplinary purposes without intending to end the careers of the civil servants (ASN) involved.
“Relieved of duties means from the position they currently hold. Coincidentally, in Kalisari, it is the female sub-district head who holds it; we are freeing her from the sub-district head position,” Pramono stated.
“But I also do not want to eliminate someone’s career. After they are coached to become better, we will give them the opportunity to perform better,” he added.
This firm action was taken because the seemingly careless handling of public complaints was deemed to have damaged the image and evaluation of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
“Even after we delved into various issues, including the one in Kalisari, it truly tarnishes the face of Jakarta. And as Governor, I do not want it to happen again, so there is no room for it to be repeated,” Pramono said.
Regarding the fate of the three PPSU officers directly involved in responding to the complaint, Pramono has personally summoned them to deliver stern warnings.
“So there are three people who have received SP1, and earlier I met each of them personally. And I conveyed that this is their last chance if they still want to work in DKI Jakarta,” Pramono said.
Pramono stated that he would not hesitate to impose dismissal sanctions if the officers repeat the same mistake in the future.
“If it is repeated, we will certainly take firmer action,” he emphasised.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Inspectorate recommended the deactivation of Kalisari Sub-District Head Siti Nur Hasanah to the East Jakarta Administrative City Mayor following the controversy over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by her subordinates in following up on citizen reports on JAKI.
In addition to the sub-district head, the Inspectorate also recommended disciplinary sanctions and coaching for the Head of the Government Section of Kalisari Sub-District and the Head of the Economic and Development Section of Kalisari Sub-District, who were also involved.
Meanwhile, the three Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Officers (PPSU) proven to be involved will be subject to sanctions in accordance with their work contract provisions.
Previously, the public was shocked by a social media post regarding a report of illegal parking via the JAKI app, which was stated to have been resolved, but accompanied by a photo suspected to be an AI-generated edit.
