Kalimalang Water Tourism Grand Opening Delayed to August 2026, Here’s Why

Bekasi, Kompas.com — The plan for the grand opening or inauguration of Kalimalang Water Tourism in Bekasi City, West Java, has been postponed from the initial target of May 2026 to August 2026. David Rahardja, Chief Executive Officer of PT Mitra Patriot Kota Bekasi, said the delay was due to several factors. “Progress is still ongoing, but some aspects have been delayed due to the effects of the global conflict. Incidentally, much of our raw materials are still imported from China, so prices have risen and shipments have also been delayed,” David told Kompas.com on Tuesday (19 May 2026). “Besides the impact of the global conflict, the project work also faced disruption from extreme weather in March to April 2026. “In March and April, the weather was quite extreme, so the work could not be carried out optimally, hence the delay. After that, the global conflict further delayed the work,” David said. Among them are a row of work containers, a curved bridge, and the water tourism area along Kalimalang. Kompas.com’s observations at the site show a row of colourful containers has been installed beneath the Becakayu Toll Road, Jalan KH Noer Ali, South Bekasi District, since early 2026. The containers will be used as culinary tenants and MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises). Additionally, the decorative, instagrammable bridges have also been erected in the tourism area. The two curved bridges that will connect the tourism area appear to have been completed. Meanwhile, the main icon—the tourist boat—has reportedly been available. “This is more about exclusivity and also because there is not yet a dedicated security team to guard the assets there,” David said.
