The quality of bus terminal services is once again under scrutiny as public mobility increases during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow. Aspects such as cleanliness and comfort are still seen as areas needing improvement at several transport hubs.

Jakarta Provincial DPRD member Hardiyanto Kenneth carried out a surprise inspection at Kalideres Terminal in West Jakarta to directly monitor service conditions. He assessed that the terminal’s operations are generally running well, but several issues were noted on the ground.

“Overall, the terminal’s operations are running quite well. Main facilities such as waiting rooms, ticket counters, departure and arrival areas, and information boards are available and functioning,” said Kenneth on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Kenneth found that the cleanliness of toilets and some waiting areas was not yet optimal. He urged the management to increase cleaning frequency and ensure cleaning staff are on standby 24 hours a day, given the surge in passengers during the homecoming period.

Additionally, Kenneth pointed out the limitations of air conditioning facilities in the waiting rooms. According to him, this condition affects passenger comfort, especially in hot weather.

“Indeed, the weather lately has been quite scorching. This will be our attention moving forward regarding air conditioning needs,” said Kenneth.

Kenneth also noted the potential for passenger build-ups in the boarding area and ticket counters. He encouraged more orderly queue arrangements and the addition of staff to alleviate congestion.

From discussions with homecoming travellers, Kenneth recorded the need for improved clarity of information inside the terminal. Travel information is deemed necessary to be more easily accessible to passengers.

He added that the option of renovating Kalideres Terminal is open to enhance service quality. This plan will be further discussed in the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

“This terminal is indeed quite old and it is fitting that it be renovated to become better. This will be material for our future evaluation,” said Kenneth.

Kalideres Terminal is considered to have a strategic role as a transport hub in West Jakarta. Improvements to facilities and service management are key to anticipating increased mobility during the homecoming period and beyond.
