Kalideres Terminal Intensifies Waste Segregation to Support Zero Waste
The Kalideres Bus Terminal area in West Jakarta has undertaken cleaning, management, and waste sorting directly from the source to support the zero-waste concept.
This cleaning action was carried out by dozens of joint personnel, involving one fire brigade unit to spray and clean the entire terminal area on Friday.
“The total personnel included 50 people, along with representatives from bus companies, drivers, and MSMEs, plus one fire truck for spraying,” said the Head of Kalideres Terminal, Nur Prasetyo, when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.
In addition to the spraying, joint officers and terminal business operators also scoured the area to collect scattered waste.
This cleaning momentum is being utilised by the Kalideres Sub-district Government to encourage Kalideres Terminal to become a pioneer of environmentally friendly terminals in Jakarta.
During the action, the sub-district authorities socialised Jakarta Governor’s Instruction (Ingub) Number 5 of 2026 regarding Waste Management and Sorting from the Source.
“This cleaning is for comfort. We hope that following this, all components within Kalideres Terminal can begin efforts to sort waste,” said Prasetyo, emphasising the importance of the commitment towards zero waste.
Meanwhile, the Head of Kalideres Sub-district, Rizky Dwiputra, expressed hope that the socialisation of Governor’s Instruction Number 5 of 2026 could build collective awareness across the entire terminal ecosystem, including officers, bus crews, and MSME operators, to manage waste wisely.
He added that with the presence of composting equipment, Kalideres Terminal is expected to be able to reduce organic waste volume independently, thereby reducing the waste load that must be sent to the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Site (TPST).
“The awareness to process waste from the source must be undertaken together. Not only in residential environments, but Kalideres Terminal can also serve as an example for other terminals in reducing waste within their surroundings,” said Rizky.
