The Kalideres Bus Terminal area in West Jakarta has undergone a clean-up, along with direct waste management and segregation from the source, to support the zero waste concept. The clean-up action was carried out by dozens of combined personnel on Friday, deploying one fire engine to spray and clean the entire terminal area. “The total personnel was 50 people, plus elements from bus operators, drivers, MSMEs, and one fire engine for spraying,” said Kalideres Terminal Head Nur Prasetyo. In addition to spraying, the combined officers and business operators in the terminal also combed the area to collect scattered rubbish. The Kalideres Urban Village government used this momentum to encourage the terminal to become a pioneer of environmentally friendly terminals in Jakarta. During the action, the urban village office socialised the DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Instruction Number 5 of 2026 concerning Waste Management and Segregation from the Source. “This clean-up is for comfort. We hope that after this, all components of Kalideres Terminal can start efforts to segregate waste,” Prasetyo stated, emphasising the importance of commitment towards zero waste. Meanwhile, Kalideres Urban Village Head Rizky Dwiputra expressed hope that the socialisation of Gubernatorial Instruction Number 5 of 2026 would build collective awareness among the entire terminal ecosystem, from officers and bus crews to MSME operators, to manage waste wisely. He added that with the presence of composter equipment, Kalideres Terminal is expected to be able to independently reduce the volume of organic waste, thereby lessening the burden of waste that must be disposed of at the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Facility. “Awareness to process waste from the source must be done together. Not only from residential areas, but Kalideres Terminal can also be an example for other terminals in reducing waste in their environment,” said Rizky.
