Jakarta — A member of the Jakarta Regional Parliament, Hardiyanto Kenneth, has called on the management of Kalideres Terminal in West Jakarta to improve various supporting facilities to ensure travellers receive adequate, safe and comfortable services.

“We are asking the Kalideres Terminal management to increase the frequency of cleaning and ensure cleaning staff are on duty 24 hours, given that passenger numbers will increase significantly,” said Kenneth in Jakarta on Tuesday during a surprise inspection at Kalideres Terminal.

Kenneth stated that the inspection aimed to directly assess the terminal’s facility condition whilst ensuring travellers receive adequate, safe and comfortable services.

Overall, he noted that terminal operations are functioning reasonably well. Core facilities such as waiting areas, ticket counters, departure and arrival areas, and information boards are available and functioning.

However, Kenneth identified several areas requiring immediate attention, particularly cleanliness standards, especially in toilets and certain areas of the waiting room, which he deemed suboptimal.

“The weather has been quite hot lately. This will be a concern for us regarding air conditioning requirements,” he said.

Kenneth also identified potential passenger congestion at several points, including passenger boarding and alighting areas and ticket counters. He urged the implementation of more orderly queuing arrangements and additional staff to manage overcrowding.

Furthermore, Kenneth proposed that Kalideres Terminal be renovated to improve public transport service quality, particularly to accommodate passenger surge during peak mudik and balik (return) travel periods.

Regarding security, Kenneth commended the presence of combined officers comprising police, the Transportation Department and health personnel. Nevertheless, he urged tighter monitoring to prevent ticket scalping practices and potential criminal activity.

During the inspection, Kenneth engaged with several travellers. From these discussions, he received various suggestions, ranging from departure schedule certainty to improved waiting area comfort and baggage security.

Travellers also expressed hopes for clearer and more easily accessible information, whether through digital boards or field personnel.

Kenneth therefore requested the Jakarta Transportation Department and terminal management conduct a comprehensive evaluation immediately.
