Jakarta - Kalideres Terminal management in West Jakarta conducted urine tests and health examinations for drivers on Friday as the volume of Eid holiday travel increased ahead of the 2026 festive season.

Nur Prasetyo, Head of Kalideres Terminal, stated that the urine and health tests were being carried out alongside the establishment of a health post within the terminal premises.

For the urine testing at the health post, Kalideres Terminal collaborated with various agencies, including the TNI-Polri, Municipal Police, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the District Health Centre (Puskesmas Kecamatan), and the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP).

“At the health post there are two agencies - one from the District Health Centre and one from the BNNP. The BNNP’s activity is conducting driver urine tests,” he said.

The District Health Centre performed health examinations, including checks for blood sugar, cholesterol, and other conditions.

The situation at Kalideres Terminal began showing a surge in the number of passengers departing for their hometowns on Friday evening.

Prasetyo noted that Friday marked the beginning of peak travel periods, with approximately 800 passengers departing to various regions.

“Today there was an increase of about 20 per cent compared to yesterday, with around 800 passengers,” he said.

“In the afternoon, schoolchildren and workers began heading home. Those with holidays or leave on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday typically depart around 13-14 March,” he added.

Padang in West Sumatra and other regions across Sumatra have temporarily become popular destinations for homebound travellers at Kalideres Terminal. “Today the popular destinations are mostly towards Padang and across Sumatra,” he said.

Kalideres Terminal will conduct further vehicle safety inspections (ramp check) on Saturday (14 March). “The ramp check will run tomorrow from 08:00 to 20:00 WIB, with a target of approximately 30 buses,” he said.
