Kalibata Mall gets bomb threat
JAKARTA: A day after a minor explosion at the General
Elections Commission (KPU) building, Kalibata Mall in South
Jakarta received an anonymous bomb threat on Tuesday evening.
At 7:30 p.m., Panji Irawan, a staff member of Hero supermarket
in the basement of the mall, received a telephone call saying
that a bomb was about to explode on the second floor.
Panji quickly notified the mall management, which in turn
contacted the Jakarta Police. The bomb squad arrived at the scene
20 minutes later.
After combing the building, the squad declared at 9:10 p.m.
that the building was safe.
City police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani called on building
managements to install caller ID to help identify people who make
such threats. -- JP
