Kali CBL Road in Bekasi Slumps Again, Vehicles Unable to Pass
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com — Kali CBL Road (Jalan Raya Kali Cikarang Bekasi Laut) in Kertamukti Village, Cibitung District, Bekasi Regency, has again experienced landslides at several points.
There are at least three landslide points along the roughly 12-kilometre stretch of Kali CBL Road, observed by Kompas.com at the site.
The damage has occurred gradually since March 2026 to the present.
The road concrete appears cracked and has subsided towards the riverbank.
This condition requires motorists to exercise extra caution when passing.
Local residents have even placed used tyres and timber as markers to prevent drivers from slipping into the collapsed road area.
Nearby resident Anen (47) said the latest landslide occurred on Wednesday (20/5/2026) afternoon.
“At this point, the subsidence only started yesterday at 12:00 WIB. There had been landslides like this before as well. The cause is that the water flow in the upstream river has reached its limit, so the water seeps here,” Anen told Kompas.com at the site on Thursday (21/5/2026).
He said the soil condition along the Kali CBL route is inherently unstable, making landslides frequent.
The road embankment has subsided due to eroded and hollow soil for a long time.
“Here there was a landslide before, and there is another over there. This is because the soil is not solid, in other words unstable, so it collapses on its own. Luckily there was no vehicle passing at the time,” he said.
“If not maintained, it will not be passable because sections compete for space. A car simply cannot pass at all,” Anen added.
He said he is worried the damaged road could trigger accidents, particularly for drivers unaware of the landslide at the location.
