Kalbe Farma's Q1 profit up 27%
JAKARTA: PT Kalbe Farma, Indonesia's biggest drugmaker by
sales, said its net income rose 27 percent in the first quarter,
boosted by sales of painkillers including Neuralgin and Procold.
Unaudited net income in the three months ended March 31 rose
to Rp 159.5 billion (US$17 million), or Rp 19.64 a share, from Rp
125.72 billion, or Rp 15.48 a share, the Bekasi-based Kalbe said
in a statement to the Jakarta Stock Exchange on Monday night.
Sales at Kalbe, which makes about a quarter of all non-
prescription drugs sold in Indonesia, increased to Rp 1.02
trillion in the three months, from Rp 807.3 billion a year
earlier, the statement said.
Kalbe shares fell Rp 10, or 1.4 percent, to Rp 710 on Monday
on the Jakarta Stock Exchange. -- Bloomberg
