TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:PT Kalbe Farma plans to build a medicine factory in Cikarang, West Java. “The construction will start next year,” financial director Vidjongtius, confirmed yesterday.

The construction is expected to be completed by 2013 and cost up to Rp150 billion, explained the financial director. The company aims to increase its production capacity by 30 – 50 percent through the new factory. “We could use it for the next five years, as of 2013,” he said.

Kalbe Farma is currently building a cancer drug production factory in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, which will be completed by the end of 2012. It will be the first factory in Indonesia that produces cancer drugs. "We’ve been importing cancer drugs," said Vidjongtius.

The company is awaiting certification from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency for their generic medicine factory which has just been completed.
