Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the Indonesian Police wants vehicle tax payments to be as easy as buying mobile credit. ‘Ladies and gentlemen, in relation to the revitalisation of public services, during our Samsat coordination meeting, we expect tax payments to be as easy as buying credit,’ said Kakorlantas Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho on Friday, 22 May 2026. The way to make paying vehicle tax easier is to provide electronic-based services in the one-stop integrated Samsat system. ‘We also hope that the Director of the Traffic Directorate and his jajarannya will prioritise the revitalisation and optimisation of public services, including SINAR and SIGNAL; this should be given priority to digital services,’ he asserted. In addition to targeting the taxation and driving licence services, digitalisation is also being applied to the law enforcement sector through the launch of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) Drone. Kakorlantas Polri hopes public services become much more transparent, fast, and accountable, while also capable of encouraging public compliance with traffic regulations and vehicle administration.
