Kakorlantas Leads TFG for Ketupat Operation 2026, Anticipating Mudik Surge
Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, led the Tactical Floor Game (TFG) to prepare for Operasi Ketupat 2026 in the Madellu Hall of the Polri Traffic Corps, on Tuesday 3 March. The event was attended by senior officers from Ditlantas Polda Banten, West Java, Central Java, Lampung, Metro Jaya, Yogyakarta, East Java, and Bali. In the exercise, the agencies refined the scenarios for safeguarding the flow of travellers on the mudik (homecoming) and balik Lebaran 2026 to anticipate surges on toll roads and arterial routes.
Agus said the TFG is an important step to ensure all stakeholders understand the patterns and actions to take when there is a surge in traffic. ‘Today I invited all stakeholders within Korlantas to undertake the Tactical Floor Game. This is very important to ensure the scenario for action when a traffic surge occurs, on toll roads or arterials, so we can seek solutions to ease the flow,’ he said in a written statement, on Tuesday 3 March.
In the simulation, various tactical scenarios were depicted in detail, ranging from contraflow and one-way systems to diverting traffic on toll roads or at toll exits. The move is intended to ensure all ranks share a common understanding for on-site decision-making.
Through the TFG, Agus said, potential disruptions to security and public order (harkamtibmas) as well as traffic safety, order, and smoothness (kamseltibcarlantas) can be broken down and controlled from the outset. ‘Whether at ports, on toll roads, at tourist spots, including arterial roads, we map everything in the tactical exercise today so we can control it from the outset,’ he said.
In addition to personnel readiness, the Polri Traffic Corps is also optimising the use of real-time information-based technology to monitor traffic conditions. Agus explained the system includes traffic counting and field situation monitoring, including handling breakdowns and accidents. ‘We are prepared, but we are using technology for real-time information, including traffic counting and field conditions. When there is a breakdown or an accident, what steps to take, including service patterns, are prepared,’ he added.
Furthermore, Agus said that in Operasi Ketupat 2026, the Korlantas will also deploy an urai team involving Polwan and Kowad. In addition, there will be full support from various stakeholders such as Jasa Raharja, Jasa Marga, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
