KAI's Eid al-Adha Holiday Ticket Sales Reach 1.2 Million
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reported ticket sales for the travel period from 26 May to 1 June 2026 reached 1,215,456. KAI Vice President for Corporate Communications Anne Purba stated that during the first four days of the long weekend (26-29 May 2026), the company served 736,819 passengers across operational areas in Java and Sumatra.
‘The high passenger mobility during this period demonstrates the growing role of railways in supporting inter-regional movement,’ Purba said in a statement on Sunday, 31 May 2026.
‘Railways have become a travel choice that meets public demand for easy access, predictable travel times, and comfort during journeys,’ she added.
KAI also observed a more diverse travel pattern among passengers. Previously, holiday travel flows were concentrated on specific days, but now departures are more evenly distributed throughout the holiday period. The peak departure day was 26 May 2026 with 214,349 passengers. Daily occupancy rates remained high thereafter, ranging between 149,000 and 191,000 passengers per day.
High travel demand was reflected in busy activity at major stations. Additionally, Semarang Tawang, Bandung, Surabaya Gubeng, Surabaya Pasarturi, Purwokerto, Semarang Poncol, and Solo Balapan stations were among the top 10 departure stations with the highest passenger numbers during the long holiday period.
The widespread passenger distribution across various cities shows that travel is not only concentrated on Jakarta and surrounding routes, but also to popular destinations in Central Java, East Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The high departure activity from these stations aligns with the cities’ roles as economic, educational, governmental, and tourism hubs.
