“This ticket sale is to support the smooth flow of Eid homecoming this year,” said the Head of Public Relations of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, in Yogyakarta on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Feni explained that in this service, it will operate as the 7039/7040 Additional train on the Lempuyangan - Pasar Senen (round trip) route, which is included in the list of 10 additional Eid trains departing from the KAI Daop 6 area.
The train set carries a special composition that combines five executive class carriages and four people’s economy class carriages in one train set.
Feni said that the total capacity available in one train set reaches 622 seats, consisting of 250 executive class seats and 372 people’s economy class seats.
The departure schedule for the 7039 Additional train on the Lempuyangan–Pasar Senen route is set for 06:00 WIB and is scheduled to arrive at 13:56 WIB, while the 7040 Additional train on the Pasar Senen–Lempuyangan route will depart at 15:25 WIB and arrive at its destination at 22:57 WIB.
This people’s economy class is the result of an innovation modification of the previous generation of AC package economy class trains, which was carried out independently by the Manggarai Rail Workshop, focusing on interior improvements and passenger comfort.
Each train unit now has only 93 seats with a more ergonomic and spacious 3:2 configuration compared to the old configuration which accommodated 106 seats.
In addition, the seats in this class have been equipped with a reversible feature that allows the direction of the seats to be adjusted to the speed of the train for extra comfort for long-distance passengers.
Feni emphasized that the presence of this new class is to provide inclusive and affordable public transportation for all levels of society, especially in the midst of high mobility during the Eid period.
“Through innovation in existing facilities, passengers are expected to have more choices of schedules and classes according to their needs,” she said.
The presence of the People’s Economy Class train is also to expand access to rail-based public transportation, support the smooth flow of homecoming, and maintain affordability for various customer segments during the 2026 Eid Service.
