KAI Yogyakarta Adds Seven Trains for Idul Adha Holiday
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Region 6 Yogyakarta has deployed seven additional trains to accommodate passenger surges during the extended holiday period for Idul Adha 1447 Hijriyah and Pancasila Day from 27 May to 1 June 2026.
Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager of KAI Operational Region 6 Yogyakarta, stated that the additional services are intended to support public mobility during the extended holiday. She noted that the proximity of Idul Adha and Pancasila Day is expected to increase travel to various regions.
“During this long weekend, we have prepared seven additional trains, from economy to executive class, as an alternative for passengers,” Feni told reporters in Solo on Monday, 25 May 2026.
She explained that the fleet expansion aims to help passengers secure train tickets and reduce congestion on regular trains, which typically see higher occupancy during holiday seasons.
Among the seven additional trains is a supplementary service between Lempuyangan and Pasar Senen offering Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan (People’s Economy Class) at more affordable fares. This service is intended to provide an economical yet comfortable travel option for passengers.
The seven additional services departing from Operational Region 6 Yogyakarta include the Sancaka Supplementary Train between Yogyakarta and Surabaya Gubeng, the Batavia service between Solo Balapan and Gambir, two additional trains between Yogyakarta and Gambir, two between Solo Balapan and Bandung, and the Lempuyangan-Pasar Senen supplementary service.
KAI Operational Region 6 has assured that all train services will prioritise safety, comfort, and punctuality during the holiday period. In addition to infrastructure readiness, the company has deployed additional staff at stations to assist passengers.
The company also reminded the public to book tickets in advance via the Access by KAI app, kai.id website, or other official sales channels. Train tickets are available for booking up to 45 days before departure.
Feni urged passengers to plan their travel time to stations to avoid arriving too close to departure times. “Passengers are advised to schedule their journey to the station to ensure a safer and more comfortable trip,” she said.
