KAI Urges Public to Avoid Burning Activities Near Railway Tracks
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 4 Semarang, Central Java, has urged the public to refrain from burning rubbish, shrubs, or weeds in the areas surrounding railway tracks, as such activities can disrupt train journeys.
“Smoke resulting from burning activities near the tracks can impact the visibility of train drivers,” said KAI Public Relations Manager, Luqman Arif, in Semarang on Thursday.
Throughout September 2024, he noted, there have already been five land fire incidents near railway lines within the Semarang Daop region. These five incidents occurred in the regencies of Blora, Tegal, Pemalang, and Grobogan, as well as Semarang City.
According to Arif, KAI continues to monitor the condition of the tracks and the surrounding environment, ensuring that any potential disruptions can be handled swiftly through coordination with relevant parties.
“We continue to monitor and coordinate with local authorities and the fire department should there be any potential for fires near the railway lines,” he said.
He also invited the public to immediately report any fire spots that could potentially approach the railway tracks so they can be addressed as early as possible. “The public is asked to assist KAI in ensuring rapid handling and maintaining the safety and smoothness of train travel,” he added.
