KAI Urges Public Not to Create Illegal Level Crossings Anymore: They Obstruct Train Drivers
This level crossing, at present, we, along with the Ministry of Transportation, specifically the Directorate General of Railways, are conducting very strict enforcement. But of course, we hope for support from the community as well,” said PT KAI’s President Director Bobby Rasyidin during a press conference at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, on Wednesday (29/4/2026). Bobby urged the public not to create illegal level crossings anymore. This is because it can disrupt the work of train drivers. “Two things, one is not to create illegal crossings anymore, I repeat, not to create illegal crossings anymore. When creating an illegal crossing, it obstructs the visibility of our train drivers,” he stated. He explained that official level crossings have sensor equipment. Whereas, illegal level crossings only rely on bamboo or wood as barriers. “Official crossings and those installed with equipment are not just simple, just using gates; there are sensor devices inside them, that’s the first thing, we ask from the community,” Bobby revealed. He also advised the public not to reopen illegal level crossings that have been closed by his side. He said the closed crossings do not meet the requirements. “If there are crossings that are already guarded, already equipped with devices, do not violate them. Those that are closed, which we have closed because they do not meet safety requirements, please do not open them again,” he added.
