KAI to Close Nine Informal Level Crossings in Bogor for Safety

Bogor – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) plans to close nine informal level crossings in Bogor City and its surroundings to improve safety for railway passengers and road users.

Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager for the Jakarta Area Operations (Daop) 1 of KAI, said the crossings to be closed are classified as informal level crossings. He explained that level crossings with a width of less than two metres are among those prioritised for closure.

There are tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of passengers who travel through the Bogor area daily.

He added that the plan to close these crossings has been coordinated with local government authorities. “Coordination has been carried out with local heads, including the mayor and the governor, to improve safety at level crossings,” he said.

The closure of level crossings began on Monday, 11 May 2026, for the Manggarai–Sukabumi route.

The nine crossings to be closed are:

  • Road segment between Citayam Station and Bojonggede 42+265, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Dodol, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Tenjo Station and Tigaraksa 56+202, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Kampung Sukajatake, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Bojonggede Station and Cilebut 45+254, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Citayam Station and Bojonggede 41+550, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Gang Paseban, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Cilejit Station and Daru 49+178, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Kampung Lame, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Cilebut Station and Bogor 50+164, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Tugu Wates, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Cilebut Station and Bogor 49+296, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Gang Mesjid, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Citayam Station and Bojonggede 40+490, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Gang Jamal, classified as an informal level crossing.

  • Road segment between Maseng Station and Cigombong 16+269, Bogor Regency, West Java, Jalan Desa Slawi, classified as an informal level crossing.
