KAI Temporarily Closes Bekasi Timur Station Following Collision Between KA Argo Bromo and KRL
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has decided to temporarily close operations at Bekasi Timur Station for KRL services following the collision between Kereta Api (KA) Argo Bromo Anggrek and a commuter train on Monday night (27/4/2026).
KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that the closure will last until a time to be determined, with commuter line services operating only up to Bekasi Station.
“And we also need to announce that, until we determine the time later, Bekasi Timur Station will be temporarily closed for the commuter line, so the service will only go up to Bekasi,” said Bobby in his statement on Tuesday morning (28/4/2026).
“I also mentioned earlier that at 1:24 WIB, our track on the downstream line is already operational, after we evacuated the taxi vehicle along with the KRL that was stuck due to the taxi,” he explained.
Regarding victim handling, KAI reported that as of now, there are five fatalities, while three people are still in the process of evacuation.
A total of 79 other victims have received medical treatment at several hospitals.
“We need to provide an update on the victims: at this time, there are five deaths. Then, there are about three still trapped. And those who have been taken to hospitals for observation number 79,” Bobby revealed.
He added that the victims are being treated at nine hospitals around Bekasi, including RS Primaya, RSUD Bekasi, RS Viola Bekasi, and Mitra Keluarga.
To expedite coordination of the response, KAI has also set up an emergency response post at Bekasi Station.
“Then we have also set up an emergency response post at this Bekasi Station,” he concluded.
For information, on Monday night (27/4/2026), the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with a stationary commuter train.
The incident immediately caused panic and hysteria among passengers on both trains and at the station platform.
The strong collision caused the KA Argo Bromo locomotive to enter the rear KRL carriage, resulting in severe damage.
The women’s special carriage suffered the most severe damage.
Several passengers inside had difficulty evacuating themselves because the exit was blocked by seats and damaged parts of the carriage.
