Bandarlampung — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division IV Tanjungkarang is mobilising 2,499 personnel to manage the anticipated surge in rail travel during the Eid holiday season of 1447 AH (2026).

“The personnel we are deploying are tasked with ensuring smooth operational performance, service provision, and travel safety across the railway network during the 2026 Eid transportation period,” said Executive Vice President of KAI’s Tanjungkarang Regional Division IV Hendy Helmy in Bandarlampung on Friday.

The personnel come from various operational departments supporting railway functions, including customer service, train operations, infrastructure maintenance, and travel safety divisions.

For operational train movements, KAI Tanjungkarang is deploying 462 train crew members who work directly on board services. Additionally, 537 station staff (non-crew) have been assigned to provide customer services at stations, including information services, departure operations, and passenger flow management.

To ensure infrastructure reliability, the division has mobilised 870 personnel from the track and bridge unit who will conduct inspections and maintenance of railway lines and bridges to maintain travel safety throughout the holiday period.

For signalling and telecommunications, 103 personnel from the signal, telecommunications, and electrical unit have been assigned to ensure all signalling and communication systems function properly.

Security has been reinforced with 63 Railway Police (Polsuska) personnel, 13 Polsuska non-commissioned officers, and 251 security personnel deployed at stations and operational areas.

To enhance customer service at stations, KAI Tanjungkarang has allocated 30 healthcare personnel to provide medical support and 30 customer service and ticketing staff distributed across several stations to assist with information and ticketing services.

For railway safety, the division is deploying 140 additional grade-level crossing guards at 45 crossing locations, an increase from 123 personnel at 41 locations during 2025.

The railway company is also receiving support from external organisations including the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), additional personnel, and volunteers from the Railfans Community Association (RF Baradipat) and Sumatra Institute of Technology (ITERA) students who will assist with providing information and customer service at stations.

“The readiness of these thousands of personnel demonstrates KAI’s commitment to ensuring reliable railway services throughout the 2026 Eid holiday transportation period,” Hendy said.
