KAI Surabaya Cancels 4 Train Journeys Due to Bekasi Accident

The train accident (KA) involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek that collided with a KRL or Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday, 27 April 2026, has impacted train journeys at several stations. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Daerah Operasi 8 Surabaya has cancelled four train journeys on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Mahendro Trang Bawono, stated that the four cancelled train journeys are KA Gumarang on the Surabaya Pasarturi – Pasarsenen route, KA Jayabaya on the Malang – Pasarsenen route, KA Argo Anjasmoro on the Surabaya Pasarturi – Gambir route, and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Surabaya Pasarturi – Gambir route.

Mahendro stated that the decision was taken prioritising safety and security aspects of the journey as the utmost priority. “588 customers in the Daop 8 Surabaya region are affected by this policy,” said Mahendro in his statement.

In addition to the cancellations, KAI has also adjusted the composition of KA 1B Argo Bromo Anggrek, which previously featured Stainless Steel (SS) New Generation and Compartment Suites. That composition is now SS and Luxury.

Mahendro continued that KAI is implementing a 100 percent refund policy excluding booking fees for affected customers. Here are the terms and conditions:

  1. Applicable to customers with departure schedules on 27–28 April 2026.

  2. Intended for customers cancelling journeys due to train delays or postponements.

  3. Refunds can be made in cash at station ticket counters or online, or via bank transfer if applied through the Contact Center 121 (021-121).

  4. The deadline for ticket cancellation applications is a maximum of 7 x 24 hours from the scheduled departure time stated on the ticket.
