KAI Supports Victims of East Bekasi Incident, Provides Healthcare Services to Trauma Healing
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI is strengthening its support for customers and families impacted by the incident at East Bekasi Station, by providing ongoing healthcare services up to trauma healing.
KAI’s President Director, Bobby Rasyidin, stated that the company’s primary focus at present is on the recovery of affected customers and their families, both physically and psychologically.
“We extend our deepest condolences and apologies to all affected families. KAI is present to offer sympathies, listen to the families’ needs, and ensure that support is carried out effectively,” he said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Thursday (30/4/2026).
Bobby emphasised that KAI is continuously coordinating with various parties to ensure the handling process is directed, including in fulfilling healthcare services and psychological support.
As a form of support, KAI has opened the East Bekasi Information Post to facilitate customers requiring further medical treatment.
KAI’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, explained that verification processes are conducted to ensure targeted support.
“After the data is verified, officers will direct customers to healthcare facilities according to recommendations from KAI’s Health Unit, while also assisting with the registration process at referral hospitals,” she said.
In addition, KAI has prepared a claims or reimbursement mechanism for customers who have incurred self-paid medical expenses.
Required documents include proof of payment, customer identity, receipts and details of medical expenses, medical summary, and a copy of the bank account.
Beyond medical services, KAI is also providing trauma healing services for customers in need. Applications can be made through the information post or the call centre at 0812-9660-5747.
For the initial stage, assessments can be conducted via telemedicine, while trauma healing support for families of deceased customers is carried out directly by KAI.
“We understand that recovery encompasses not only physical conditions but also psychological ones. Trauma healing services are prepared to ensure the support process is calmer and more directed,” Anne concluded.
