KAI still provides 22,134 tickets with 30 per cent discount at Malang Station

Malang, East Java — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daerah Operasi 8 Surabaya continues to provide 22,134 discounted railway tickets at 30 per cent off for the 2026 Lebaran transport programme with departures from Malang Station in Malang City, East Java.

Mahendro Trang Bawono, Manager of Public Relations at PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, stated in Malang City on Saturday that the fare discount applies to commercial economy-class trains.

“We are still providing 22,134 tickets with a 30 per cent fare discount for commercial economy-class trains. This is part of a stimulus programme provided by the government during the 14–29 March 2026 period for the Lebaran transport programme at Malang Station,” Mahendro said.

According to PT KAI Daerah Operasi 8 Surabaya’s records, 24,714 tickets with the 30 per cent discount have been sold to date, representing 52 per cent of the initial quota of 46,848 tickets.

Mahendro stated that the ticket sales figures for trains with the 30 per cent discount demonstrate strong public interest in the programme provided by the central government.

He also appealed to all prospective passengers intending to book Lebaran transport tickets departing from Malang Station to plan their travel in advance to take advantage of this ticket price reduction facility.

“This will make the homecoming journey more peaceful, comfortable, and enjoyable,” he said.

During the Lebaran transport period, PT KAI Daerah Operasi 8 Surabaya will operate a number of trains serving various destinations: the Malabar train between Malang and Bandung, the Matarmaja train between Malang and Pasar Senen, the Ijen Ekspres train between Malang and Ketapang, and the Kertanegara train between Malang and Purwokerto.

Additionally, the Jayabaya train operates between Malang and Pasar Senen, the Majapahit train between Malang and Pasar Senen, and the Malioboro Ekspres train between Malang and Purwokerto.
