Purwakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Regional Operations 2 Bandung has cancelled several train journeys as a result of an incident at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City, West Java, on Monday evening.

KAI Daop 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager Kuswardojo, speaking via telephone from Purwakarta on Monday, stated that the accident between a Commuter Line train and a long-distance train at Bekasi Timur Station has impacted train services.

“We have cancelled parts of two KA Parahyangan 139B journeys departing from Bandung at 19:25 WIB and KA 140B departing from Gambir at 23:05 WIB for the Karawang-Gambir return route,” he said.

The cancellation of these train journeys is a consequence of the incident in the Bekasi Timur area.

“We apologise and extend our deepest condolences for the incident,” he said.

In its official statement, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) stated that it is focusing on evacuating passengers and managing the train sets related to the collision between the Commuter Line and long-distance train at Bekasi Timur Station.

“Currently, all efforts are focused on the passenger and crew evacuation process, as well as handling victims at the scene, with safety as the top priority,” said KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in a statement in Jakarta.
