KAI Services, a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), has partnered with Banyuwangi-based UMKM food entrepreneurs to offer regional culinary specialties on select trains serving Banyuwangi station. Corporate Communications Manager Nyoman Suardhita confirmed two UMKMs — Warung Mbok Wah and Srengenge Wetan — are supplying Banyuwangi-specific dishes. “All these cuisines can be enjoyed on trains operating from Banyuwangi station,” he said. Warung Mbok Wah is famed for nasi tempong, a local dish featuring fresh vegetables with extra-spicy sambal made from ranti tomatoes. The train menu offers three variations: chicken, shrimp, and egg nasi tempong. Srengenge Wetan provides ayam lodoh, nasi bakar, plecing ayam, and chicken nasi tempong. Serving routes include the Sangkuriang (Bandung-Ketapang), Blambangan Express (Pasar Senen-Ketapang), Wijaya Kusuma (Cilacap-Ketapang), and Logawa (Purwokerto-Banyuwangi) trains. Regional Head of Regional 9 Jember at KAI Services, Yullyandra Mursyal, noted the Banyuwangi dishes have been available in train dining cars since May 2026. Despite their recent introduction, the menu is popular, with 10 to 20 portions typically selling out per departure. “These dishes are prepared directly by our partners, ensuring authentic taste. They are dispatched from stations to be sold in the dining cars,” he added.
