KAI serves 5,460 passengers at Malang Station during Idul Adha holiday
Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Region 8 Surabaya served 5,460 passengers at Malang Station in East Java during the Idul Adha holiday in 2026. Mahendro Trang Bawono, Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Region 8 Surabaya, confirmed from Malang City that the 5,460 passengers at Malang Station were the sum of arrivals and departures. ‘Today, during the Idul Adha holiday, 2,749 passengers departed and 2,711 arrived at Malang Station, totalling 5,460,’ Mahendro confirmed from Malang City on Wednesday. KAI Surabaya also estimates that during the combined Idul Adha holiday and leave period, including weekends, Waisak Day, and Pancasila Day from 26 May to 1 June 2026, there will be 29,837 passengers arriving or departing from Malang Station. This comprises 15,269 departures and 14,568 arrivals at the station. To optimise services, KAI Region 8 Surabaya has deployed 12 train services with a total capacity of 40,000 seats during the late May to early June 2026 holiday period. ‘The routes include Malang to Bandung, Malang to Surabaya, Malang to Pasar Senen, Malang to Ketapang (Banyuwangi), Malang to Purwokerto, and Malang to Gambir,’ he said. To ensure smooth and comfortable travel for holidaymakers, the company has maximised service operations by optimising all facilities at Malang Station. Security and service staff have been deployed at key points to expedite the boarding process for passengers. Additionally, the company urges travellers to arrive earlier than their scheduled departure time to prevent queue build-ups. ‘We advise passengers to follow staff instructions to ensure a smooth and orderly departure process,’ he added.
