Ticket sales for the period 26 May to 1 June 2026 reached 911,176 by 10:00 WIB on 27 May 2026.

The long weekend coinciding with Iduladha 1447 Hijriah and Pancasila Day has boosted public mobility across regions. Rail travel has emerged as a preferred option for those seeking reliable travel times, comfortable journeys, and easy access to city centres and tourist destinations.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reported that ticket sales for the departure period from 26 May to 1 June 2026 reached 911,176 by 10:00 WIB on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, with numbers likely to rise as sales continue.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said public enthusiasm was evident from the first day of the long weekend. On Tuesday, 26 May 2026, KAI served 214,342 passengers—the highest daily figure so far during the holiday period.

“This long weekend highlights railways as the preferred choice for intercity travel. Beyond being practical and comfortable, train journeys offer a more relaxed experience, allowing passengers to enjoy their holidays more fully,” said Anne.

KAI observed evenly distributed passenger flows to popular cities across Java and Sumatra. Yogyakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Solo, and Surabaya remain top destinations due to their tourist attractions, cuisine, cultural sites, and integrated urban mobility access.

Daily passenger occupancy during the long weekend period was as follows:

  • 26 May 2026: 214,342 passengers

  • 27 May 2026: 132,523 passengers

Passenger mobility was also evident in popular travel routes. The Gambir–Yogyakarta route recorded the highest number of passengers at 14,189, followed by Yogyakarta–Gambir with 13,117. Travel to Semarang, Bandung, Sukabumi, and southern Java cities also showed strong sales trends.

Based on preliminary cumulative sales data for the period 26 May to 1 June 2026, the top 10 passenger destinations were:

  1. Pasar Senen: 68,345 passengers

  2. Gambir: 59,244 passengers
