KAI Serves 182,000 Passengers via People's Economy Train Services

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has recorded that 182,208 passengers have utilised the People’s Economy Train services since they began operating in 20lar 2026 up until 9 September 2026.

This figure comprises 181,900 passengers using the K3 Kerakyatan service and 308 passengers using the Long-Distance Farmers and Traders Train on the Garut–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Garut routes.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that the People’s Economy train services were introduced to provide travel options that align with the mobility needs of the community.

“Since commencing operations in 2026, the People’s Economy Train services have served 182,208 passengers. KAI continues to conduct evaluations based on passenger travel data to provide railway services that meet public requirements,” said Anne.

The K3 Kerakyatan service was first introduced via additional trains on the Lempuyangan–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Lempuyangan routes during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period, spanning 11 March to 5 April 2026. During that period, the service recorded 24,398 passengers.

Specifically, the Lempuyangan to Pasar Senen route served 12,262 passengers, while the Pasar Senen to Lempuyangan route served 12,136 passengers.

Following the Eid period, KAI continued the K3 Kerakyatan service via the Cikuray Train on the Garut–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Garut routes starting 11 June 2026. As of 9 September 2026, this service has served 157,502 passengers.

This total consists of 81,368 passengers travelling from Garut to Pasar Senen and 76,134 passengers travelling from Pasar Senen to Garut.

In addition to the K3 Kerakyatan service, KAI also introduced the Long-Distance Farmers and Traders Train on the Garut–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Garut routes starting 11 June 2026. Up to 9 September 2026, this service has served 308 passengers.

In detail, the Garut to Pasar Senen route served 153 passengers, while the Pasar Senen to Garut route served 155 passengers.

Anne explained that passenger travel data serves as a key component for KAI’s evaluation in developing railway services, ranging from travel patterns to community mobility needs.

“KAI continues to monitor passenger numbers and travel patterns as material for service evaluation. Every service development is carried out with careful consideration of safety, comfort, and public needs,” said Anne.

As of 9 September 2026, the People’s Economy Train services, comprising K3 Kerakyatan and the Long-Distance Farmers and Traders Train, have served a total of 182,208 passengers.

KAI will continue to manage its railway services based on developments in public mobility to ensure that train travel becomes increasingly convenient for all passengers.
