PT KAI Regional Operations 4 Semarang is intensifying maintenance of rail tracks and bridges to ensure readiness for the 2026 Lebaran transport season, during which increased train frequencies are anticipated.

The Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, stated in Semarang, Central Java on Saturday that the rail network covering 10 districts and cities in northern Central Java spans 677 kilometres.

The increased mobility of passengers during Lebaran also necessitates the readiness of supporting railway infrastructure, he said.

According to Arif, maintenance efforts include track geometry work comprising measurement and adjustment of rail gauge, as well as corrections to rail elevation and alignment. Additionally, inspections are being conducted on bridges and drainage systems, particularly in flood-prone and waterlogged areas.

KAI has also increased patrol frequency in areas vulnerable to subsidence, flooding and landslides, with 24-hour infrastructure standby personnel stationed in designated monitoring zones.

Through intensified maintenance efforts, KAI aims to ensure there are no infrastructure disruptions that could impede train services during the 2026 Lebaran transport season.

The company is also preparing an emergency response team and supporting equipment ready for deployment should any emergency situations arise in the field.

KAI Daop Semarang is committed to providing safe, secure, comfortable and punctual train services. β€œThe public is also urged to refrain from conducting activities on rail tracks and to exercise discipline when crossing level crossings,” Arif said.
