KAI Reveals Taxi Blocked KRL Before Argo Bromo Train Collides with KRL in Bekasi
The long-distance train KA Argo Bromo Anggrek collided with a KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City. The KRL that was hit was stationary following an incident where another KRL was blocked by a taxi.
“The KRL was blocked by a taxi on the JPL (Direct Level Crossing) track near Bulak Kapal, which caused the KRL to stop,” said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta’s Public Relations Manager, Franoto Wibowo, when contacted on Monday (27/4/2026).
The KRL blocked by the taxi on the track can be referred to as KRL A. Then, a different KRL, referred to as KRL B, stopped at Bekasi Timur Station. The KRL stopped at Bekasi Timur Station was hit by the KA Argo Bromo.
“The KRL was stopped, and behind it was the Argo Bromo train,” he added.
Police are already at the scene. Currently, the evacuation process is still underway.
“We’re focusing on evacuations first,” said Rawalumbu Police Sector Chief Kompol Akhmadi to reporters.
Akhmadi has not yet determined the exact number of casualties. He also has not received information about any fatalities from this collision.
“I don’t know exactly (about fatalities yet); I’m prioritising public safety first,” he said.
